Today’s small thing: going back in time

Joined by our friends Jeff and Erin we embarked on a journey back in time to times long ago. The renaissance fair!

Now, I went into it with high expectations and much excitement. I have always loved going to the Renaissance Festival in KC and I was hoping to get a taste of home. We saw many of the same things as at the KC fair, but it was much smaller and not as extensive.

However, we still enjoyed some good food,

And some beverages, although my pirate’s root beer was orange flavored…can’t trust those pirates.

We watched some side shows and heard cannons fired from around this pontoon boat, I mean pirate ship.

We walked through different eras of history

And visited a few important locations

all without leaving the beauty of the St. Joseph River.

To conclude our celebration, we played a few games after we left the fair. All with historical themes:  7 Wonders, Dominion, and Carcassonne.

Even though the fair was small, it still had its own unique charm and appeal. Three cheers for a fun filled day!

Have you been to a renaissance fair? What do you like about them? I love the people who dress up to fit the part.
