small pieces of joy

pieces of joy in each day

the small thing from last week: family time

I’ve lived 600 miles away from my family for almost three years now. Being that far away from family for any length of time really stinks, but we’ve found ways to make it more bearable.

We try to have weekly Skype dates which makes us feel closer, but nothing is as good as the real thing.

So my parents and youngest brother made the trek to visit last week and it was full of all those family small things.

We smiled, we laughed, we hugged, we cried.

We played and watched games; board and basketball.

We held and tickled the littlest member of the family until his giggles filled our hearts.

Our laughing bear cub

We ate pizza and Irish food out on the town.

We went on small adventures.

We shared stories and memories.

Story time with Grandma

It was wonderful.

I was sad to see them go, but I know we will have more Skype dates until we go visit in a few months.

We didn’t do anything big, but it was the small things that made it perfect.

Grand love.

What do you like about having visitors?
